About This Site

This Web site has been developed with support from the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching program in consultation with Presidential Awardees. It is organized around the six leadership areas listed in the left-hand margin of your screen and provides resources teachers can use in preparing for roles in those areas. In addition, each leadership topic features interviews in which past Presidential Awardees share their extensive experience in these areas.

During their Recognition Week, the 2003 and 2004 Presidential Awardees identified examples of knowledge and skills they felt they would like to fortify if they were to work in the six leadership areas. We have located resources that provide information about the knowledge and skills the Presidential Awardees identified; this Web site describes those resources. The resources provide support for Presidential Awardees and other teachers wishing to take an active role outside the classroom to promote good science and mathematics education or to increase their effectiveness in the leadership work they are already doing. Click on the teacher leadership activities listed in the left-hand margin to link to specific issues and resources.

Please consider including your recommendations for resources you have found useful. E-mail your suggestions to Christine Brown at cvbrown@edc.org.
